The OGAE Song Contest 2017 was the 32nd edition of the OGAE Song Contest. It was hosted by OGAE Spain, following the country's victory at the 2016 contest with the song "Sofia" by Álvaro Soler. The contest was held online. 28 clubs participated in the contest.

Location[edit]

The contest was held in Spain. This marks the second time the OGAE Song Contest was not hosted in a particular city, the first time being the 2014 edition when it was also hosted in Spain. This marks the sixth time OGAE Spain has hosted the OGAE Song Contest overall.

Format[edit]

The key eligibility criteria for submission are:

  • The song must have been released on an album or as a single on vinyl, CD or as a digital download, or as a video, no earlier than the start of the year prior to the Contest;
  • The song must be an original version (not a cover or a remix);
  • The song must not include samples of any other songs;
  • The relevant song shall not have competed in the Eurovision Song Contest, Junior Eurovision Song Contest, OGAE Second Chance Contest or any related public preselections;
  • The video (if applicable) must have been released by the relevant artist;
  • The song and/or video shall be a studio version of the song, not a live recording or part of a film;
  • The performer must be an individual with the nationality of the nominating OGAE national club. For groups, at least one performer must be of the nationality of the nominating national club;
  • The song must be a maximum duration of 5 minutes. Videos should be no longer than 5 minutes, excluding credits.
  • At least 75% of the song must be performed in an official/national language of the nominating club.

Any submissions deemed ineligible by the host or any competing club is referred to the OGAE International Contest Coordinator for confirmation of its eligibility or providing instructions to the nominating club to resubmit a new entry.
