The OGAE Song Contest 2018 is the 33rd edition of the OGAE Song Contest. It was hosted by OGAE Australia, following the country's victory at the 2017 contest with the song "Fighting for Love" by Dami Im, runner-up of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. The contest was held online. 29 clubs participated in the contest.

Location[edit]

The contest was held in Sydney, the largest city in Australia. This was the first time the OGAE Song Contest was hosted in Australia, and is the first OGAE contest not hosted on mainland Europe.

Format[edit]

The key eligibility criteria for submission are:

  • The song must have been released on an album or as a single on vinyl, CD or as a digital download, or as a video, no earlier than the start of the year prior to the Contest;
  • The song must be an original version (not a cover or a remix);
  • The song must not include samples of any other songs;
  • The relevant song shall not have competed in the Eurovision Song Contest, Junior Eurovision Song Contest, OGAE Second Chance Contest or any related public preselections;
  • The video (if applicable) must have been released by the relevant artist;
  • The song and/or video shall be a studio version of the song, not a live recording or part of a film;
  • The performer must be an individual with the nationality of the nominating OGAE national club. For groups, at least one performer must be of the nationality of the nominating national club;
  • The song must be a maximum duration of 5 minutes. Videos should be no longer than 5 minutes, excluding credits.
  • At least 75% of the song must be performed in an official/national language of the nominating club.

Any submissions deemed ineligible by the host or any competing club is referred to the OGAE International Contest Coordinator for confirmation of its eligibility or providing instructions to the nominating club to resubmit a new entry.
