The OGAE Song Contest 2021 is the 36th edition of the OGAE Song Contest. It was hosted by OGAE UK, following the country's victory at the 2020 contest with the song "Physical" by Dua Lipa. The contest was held online, with the results announced on 29 October 2021. 29 clubs participated in the contest.

Location[edit]

The 2021 contest was hosted in Cardiff, the capital of Wales in the United Kingdom. It is the second time the city hosted the OGAE Song Contest, having previously hosted the contest in 1988. It was also the third year in a row OGAE UK hosted the OGAE Song Contest, having hosted the contest in 2019 and 2020. This marked the United Kingdom's eighth time hosting the OGAE Song Contest overall.

Format[edit]

The key eligibility criteria for submission are:

  • The song must have been released on an album or as a single on vinyl, CD or as a digital download, or as a video, no earlier than the start of the year prior to the Contest;[1]
  • The song must be an original version (not a cover or a remix);
  • The song must not include samples of any other songs;
  • The relevant song shall not have competed in the Eurovision Song Contest, Junior Eurovision Song Contest, OGAE Second Chance Contest or any related public preselections;
  • The video (if applicable) must have been released by the relevant artist;
  • The song and/or video shall be a studio version of the song, not a live recording or part of a film;
  • The performer must be an individual with the nationality of the nominating OGAE national club. For groups, at least one performer must be of the nationality of the nominating national club;
  • The song must be a maximum duration of 5 minutes. Videos should be no longer than 5 minutes, excluding credits.
  • At least 75% of the song must be performed in an official/national language of the nominating club.
