OPEN Community

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The OPEN (Open Source Practices to Educate Nation) is an initiative taken by the students of University of Petroleum and Energy Studies in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India under the guidance of faculties. It is an open community, initiated by UPES. In an open community, generally anyone from around the globe can contribute and be a part of that community..[1] Communities are a matter of collaborative efforts by people. The software made by any open community is distributed under a free licence.[2] For contributions to happen in a community, spreading awareness among people is must. Contributing to open source through an open source community has several benefits. It attracts talent as generally those people work on an open source project who are really interested and talented to do so. Lower maintenance cost is another driving factor here. Also, in open source projects, new ideas come from the contributors so the contributors decide the direction in which the open source project will go.[3]

The OPEN community aims at providing impetus to Open Source Technology Practices in the entire nation with its theme - "Aware… Adopt… Contribute".[4]
