October (singer)
October Hamlyn-Wright (born May 1984) is a British musician, recording artist and adaptive surfer.
Biography
October has toured internationally, including Australasia and Europe.[1] Her music became closely linked with the surf scene through playing festivals such as Boardmasters, the Red Bull series and being featured in publications such as SurfGirl magazine.[2]
Personal life
October has spent large parts of her life in hospital fighting serious systemic autoimmune disease, including Crohn’s disease, Lupus, Arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis, which has inspired her to become a keen advocate and ambassador for surf therapy, hidden disabilities,[3] The Wave Project and adaptive surfing.
In February 2020, Hamlyn-Wright was tried at Kingston-upon-Thames Crown Court and found guilty of benefit fraud totalling £13,000.[4]
