The Odisha Pro T20 League (OPTL) is a state-level Twenty20 cricket tournament organised by the Odisha Cricket Association. The competition features six franchises and is positioned as a platform to promote emerging players through a competitive T20 structure.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11]
Established in 2025, the league was launched to broaden Odisha’s domestic cricket framework and create a clearer pathway for state-level cricketers. The inaugural edition, held in September 2025, became a prominent addition to the state’s sporting calendar.
Modelled on contemporary franchise systems, the OPTL follows a round-robin league stage leading into the playoffs. Matches are hosted across major venues in Odisha, with the competition aiming to support structured training, professional coaching setups and improved facilities for upcoming players.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11]
History
In July 2025, the Odisha Cricket Association announced the launch of the first-ever Odisha Pro T20 League, scheduled to take place in September 2025.[1]
The league is being organised in collaboration with Arivaa Sports, a sports management firm associated with the tournament’s planning and execution.[12]
Format and teams
The inaugural season of the Odisha Pro T20 League took place from 17 to 26 September 2025 at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.[13]
Six teams competed in the first edition of the tournament:[14]
- Bhubaneswar Tigers
- Cuttack Panthers
- Keonjhar Miners
- Puri Titans
- Rourkela Steelers
- Sambalpur Warriors
The season featured 15 league-stage matches, followed by the semifinals and the final.[1]
Brand ambassadors
Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee and former India pacer Debashish Mohanty were announced as the brand ambassadors for the 2025 season.[15][16]
During the opening ceremony, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan was also introduced as one of the league’s brand ambassadors.[14]

The league was inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.[14]
The ceremony included traditional Sambalpuri dance and showcased a Mallakhamba performance.[17]
Objectives
The league was introduced by the Odisha Cricket Association to identify and nurture emerging cricket talent across Odisha.[18]

The OCA named six marquee players for the inaugural edition:[12]
2025 season
The final, held on 26 September 2025, saw the Cuttack Panthers defeat the Sambalpur Warriors to claim the first-ever OPTL title.[19]
