Odyssey is the annual cultural festival of Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIITD). It is two day long festival held around January at the campus of IIITD in Delhi.[1] Since the inaugural edition of Odyssey held in 2014[2], it has grown as a festival and attracted mulitple celebrities on its stages. The most recent edition of Odyssey was held in 2020, starring Jubin Nautiyal and attracting a footfall of over 25000+ youngsters from across India. Every edition of Odyssey is designed around a central theme, and students from hundreds of colleges participate in events related to dance, music, theatre, quizzing, and others.[3]
Events[edit]
Odyssey comprises a wide variety of events spread across many different categories. Dance and theater are the most anticipated events. They have historically gathered an audience of over two thousand people and involve in street dance, stage theater, and other activities.[4]
Inter College Competitions:[edit]
Theatre[edit]
Hasratein is the premier street play event in the theatrical category. Befikir and Unscripted are two more popular theater performances, while “Dance Troupe” and “Street Dance” are notable dance events.
Finance[edit]
Finance and entrepreneurship events are geared toward eager aspiring entrepreneurs. These activities promote a similar culture and adhere to the same concept as the Startup India Campaign.[5]
Music[edit]
The public enthusiasm for events in the music and lifestyle categories is very high. They attract the most attendees and set the mood for the event. There are also Encore performances, which are intended to feature solo western and Indian singing. Other entertaining events for music lovers to check out include War of the DJs, Schism (War of the Bands), Rap Battle, Cadenza, and a mystery event called Qafila.
Food and Entertainment[edit]
Another form of the event involves food and entertainment. These adhere to Indian culture and cuisine in spirit. They provide a wide range of quick, enjoyable tasks and attract many on-the-spot registrations. The entertaining cook-off competition for those with culinary expertise is called Battle of Chefs. Other amusing activities in this category include Minute to Win It, Hunt It, Blind Date, and Food Arena.
Art and Craft[edit]
Another broad area that includes several enjoyable activities like face painting, graffiti, and fine arts has seen fervent involvement in art and photography events. We intend to carry on this pattern.
Face Painting, a one-day event on the second day of Odyssey, is one of the significant events in the art category. Another artistic event where individuals may display their talent through wall painting is graffiti. Events linked to photography geared for photography lovers include Captcha and the Online Editing Challenge.
Esports[edit]
At the Odyssey 2023 edition, a brand-new category called games, and esports is waiting to be explored. With the high standards of esports, it hopes to draw an engaging audience and establish a trend for subsequent festivals. Player Unknown's battleground and PWNED are the events introduced for this category.
Literary and quizzing[edit]
The literary and quizzing events target the festival's intellectual attendees who want to demonstrate their literary prowess. These activities frequently receive a lot of internet participation. LitQuiz is a quiz for quiz takers that tests their knowledge of literature. Turn-Quote is a debate event that gives participants from several prestigious college debating societies a stage to share their opinions. Unmute is a slam poetry contest that is followed by an open mic. More entertaining competitions to check out in this area include pun wars, meme wars, haiku contests, etc.[6]
