Off The Dome was a New Haven jam band formed in 2012. Zack Borgstedt & Robert Engengro formed the band alongside guitarist John Spignesi and bassist Aaron Stapleton.
Formation[edit]
Zack Borgstedt, Robert Engengro, and John Spignesi were introduced to each other in 2009 through attending college. The three performed together as a trio for three months until Aaron Stapleton joined. They dubbed themselves as Off The Dome due to the desire to improvise and jam on stage. The band performed all over the Northeast at numerous festivals, playing many original compositions, as well as Grateful Dead songs and various covers. The group disbanded in October 2017 due to creative differences.
Reunion[edit]
In March of 2021, Spignesi reached out to the members to perform at a private gathering on May 29, 2021. The band rehearsed for two months in preparation. These rehearsals marked the first time in nearly four years that all four members were even in the same room. The show was cancelled due to rain. No statement was made from OTD and no further plans to reunite have been scheduled.
