    Office Timeline is a project management vizualization desktop add-in for business professionals developed and marketed by Office Timeline, a Bellevue, Washington-based software company. Office Timeline ensures a seamless user experience whenever working in PowerPoint as it’s an add-in built natively into the popular presentation program. [1] It is used to produce summary views of Gantt charts and timelines for client and executive reporting. Providing simple task and milestone management [2] and project scheduling functionalities, the tool is marketed as a freemium product with a perpetually free version and a Plus (+) one.
    The free edition is fully functional for creating and editing simple visuals fast, whereas the paid one unlocks premium features, such as the ability to import data from Excel, as well as to update and customize graphics to a higher extent. The light addin software provides unexpected project management functionality [3] and since the company launched in October 2012 the add-in reached 1 million downloads by 2015.

    The software was originally designed as .NET application extension (add-in) for Microsoft Office to enable the creation of project visuals as native PowerPoint slides. Major subsequent developments have included implementation of a patent pending rendering and layout engine, enterprise deployment support and integration with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet and Wrike. Office Timeline requires Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10, and Microsoft PowerPoint 2007, 2010, 2013 or 2016. The final version has a built-in wizard [4] to speed up the development of timelines.
