Background[edit]

Oh Geeez was originally formed in 2019 as a trio consisting of Sean McGibany, Jack Gilmond, and one other member who moved to Fond du Lac soon after their formation. Sean McGibany began a side project where he wrote songs about the 2017 Disney Channel series DuckTales because he was hyper-fixated on the show. Eventually McGibany decided to write songs about other cartoons, which became the focus of the main band. In 2021 the band met drummer Alex Dollenmayer from Columbus, Ohio, who joined them after they heard his cover of Twenty One Pilots' "Saturday" on Twitter.[3]

The band released their first recording, an EP titled "How Did I Get Here, Why Am I Dancing" on April 21, 2020, inspired by DuckTales. This was followed by the release of the mixtapes "Shut Up Everyone, I've Done Something Brilliant" on September 3, 2020, and "The Calisota Sessions, Vol. 1" on January 1, 2021, which are also inspired by DuckTales. The band released the EP "Ducks and Trains", which features songs about both DuckTales and Infinity Train, on June 19, 2021. They also released a non-album single, "Island Time", inspired by the Pixar film Luca.

The band released their first full-length album, "Coming Home" on December 17, 2021, which is inspired from season 3 of Amphibia.[4] The song has been praised by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the biggest newspaper in Wisconsin.[5] On March 18, 2022, they released the album "Wilder", which is inspired from season 2 of The Owl House. On June 10, 2022, they released the single "Best of Friends", a song for the YouTube compilation The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie Rehydrated, which is based on the SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. On July 1, 2022, they released their third album "From The Heart", which includes songs about Amphibia and The Owl House, including the Amphibia finale.

On October 14, 2022, the band released the EP "Better Together", in which each song is about a different show. On January 13, 2023 they released "Hopes & Horrors", an album of Owl House songs.
