OkCredit

OkCredit is an Indian book-keeping company for micro and small businesses[1] that handles credit account management.[2] It allows small business owners and customers to keep a digital record of payments and credits through a free application and can also present a monthly breakdown of whatever has been purchased on credit.[3] The app can send automated WhatsApp reminders to customers[4] The app is available in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.[5]

History

It was founded by Gaurav Kunwar, Harsh Pokharna, and Aditya Prasad in 2017. The organisation was a part of the 2018 summer batch of Y Combinator.[4] In 2020, the company was reported to have 6 million active monthly users.[1] The company also launched Co-aid during the Covid-19 pandemic that offered information about the availability of medicines and resources in real time.[6]

Competition

Okcredit competes with other players like Khatabook and Vyapar.[7]

Controversy

OkCredit launched an app Okshop within one month of the competitor Khatabook, which launched Dukaan. Both these apps enable online store set up.[8]
