Olaolu Akorede Olabode (born October 1), better known by HG2, is a Nigerian Music Video Director, Film Maker, and Cinematographer. He was born in Mushin, Lagos, Nigeria. He started as a Graphic Designer, which he was well known as one of the best in African graphic design. In early 2012, Olaolu decided to start shooting music videos, and shot his first music video for Reminisce and Olamide. [1]
Life and career
Olaolu was born in Mushin, Lagos State, Nigeria. He is the son of Late Taiwo Olabode a.k.a Happy Taj and Late Esther Marquis. His father was a screenwriter and printer. He obtained his primary education from Command Children School, Oshodi, and his secondary education from Ilupeju Senior Secondary School ILUSEC. While he was in secondary school, every time he closed from school he resumed to a business center behind his father’s workshop, where he learned Microsoft Word & CorelDraw. After finishing secondary school, he tried to further his education at Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife, but lacked the money to do so. He had to earn his certificate in computer studies and teach at a computer school in Abule Egba, Lagos, where he taught for a year. He tried to build his skills in Photoshop. That’s how he started making posters & artwork, and became one of Nigeria’s leading graphic design outfits in the industry. In 2012 D’Banj to Sign HG2 as official Photographer & Graphic Designer of DB Records. HG2 has been the design brain behind several big events in Nigeria including the Nigeria Entertainment Awards NEA, The Faceoff 2012, Ovation Red Carol, A.Y.O grove, as well as design works for top artists like Wizkid, Davido, 9ice, Wande Coal, Kizz Daniel etc.
