Olorunsogo Power Station

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Olorunsogo II Power station is a gas-fired power station project in Ogun, Nigeria, which can produce energy up to 750 MW supply. Olorunsogo Generation is the plant's current owner with 100% of the stakes. It was developed by SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction. The plant functions with a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine power plant with a current cost of $1,497.96m. The plant is present at Olorunsogo, about 17 KM to Papalanto in Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State. SEPCO Electric Power Construction Corporation[citation needed] of China has awarded the power plant for the supply, delivery, instalment, and commissioning of the power plant under the supervision of Oska-Jo and Partners Ltd/Scott Wilson Plc.

Nigeria strives to fix the power supply but faces difficulties even after holding the largest economy in sub-Saharan Africa. The country produces 12,522 MW of energy through oil, gas, hydro, and solar resources, but it can only supply 4000 MW of energy. Hence, the 195 million people in the country have to face an electricity shortage. The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) has listed the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) and Olorunsogo II Power Plant among 42 transactions to be undertaken this year.

Managing Director of NDPHC, Chiedu Ugbo,[citation needed] said "We are connected to the grid, but there appear to be challenges in the grid. This plant has 750MW, which, at 31 degrees, should be able to evacuate 690MW. Our target is to have the whole output of this power plant evacuated. The most important thing for us now is that Nigerians must benefit from this power plant. Olorunsogo Power Plc has been handed over to SEPCO-Pacific Partners through a press release by the Head, Public Communications of BPE, Chigbo Anichebe.
