Omar Havana

Omar Havana was born in 1975 in Granada, Spain.[1]

Omar Havana is a Spanish Freelance Photojournalist since 2005 who has covered stories in countries such as Spain, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Belgium, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Egypt, The Netherlands, Nepal, Greece, France, and Cambodia among many others.

Omar Havana has been represented by photo agencies as Wostok Press, Cordon Press/Corbis Spain, SIPA Press, and EPA, and by Getty Images since 2013. Omar is also a member of the collective Hans Lucas in France. His work has been published in media as The New York Times, TIME Magazine, The Guardian, Al Jazeera among many others.[2]

His most famous work made the front pages of many international media outlets during the earthquake that hit Nepal in April 2015 including front pages in The New York Times and stories in TIME Magazine, National Geographic, and Paris Match, being also exhibited in the 2015 Visa Pour L’Image festival[3]. His work during and after the earthquake ended up in the publication of his book Endurance by the published FotoEvidence in 2016. [4]

An important part of Omar Havana’s work has been always with NGOs, since his career start Omar has worked for NGOs such as UNICEF, Medecins Sans Frontieres, Action Aid, VSO International, ILO, among many others.
