Omar Shafik (born 1976) is an Egyptian-Swiss lecturer and entrepreneur. He graduated with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Economics. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris-Dauphine.
Shafik is currently a Managing Partner at SevenSprings Technology, Founder at Orchtech, and Founder at Purple Bureau.
Education
Omar Shafik studied at the American University in Cairo (AUC), Egypt. He graduated with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Economics. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris-Dauphine.[1]
Career
Shafik started his career as a Software Development Manager at Microtech Co. from June 1999 to September 2005. In August 2005, Shafik joined MGD Computer Systems as an R&D Manager and soon became a consultant for the whole group by October 2006. As of January 2007, Shafik founded his own company named Orchtech, a software development company. Alongside Orchtech, Shafik co-founded Purple Digital Marketing, Orchtech Switzerland, and SevenSprings Technology Switzerland.
Shafik is a board member of the Swiss Club Cairo and one of the main sponsors of the club's activities.[2]
In 2018, Shafik was involved in the launching of the 'Swiss Trail' application that facilitates communication between Switzerland and Egypt. [3] The 'Swiss Trail' application was developed by Shafik himself.
Shafik is also a member of the Impact Hub Zurich as of October 2016. [4]
Awards
- Best Thesis Award of the year 2012 in the MBA program at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris-Dauphine.[5]
