Ondřej G. Brzobohatý or Ondřej G.B. (born 2 February 1983 in Prague) is a Czech composer, singer, lyricist, pianist, producer, and actor.
Personal life[edit]
Ondřej Gregor Brzobohatý is the son of Czech actor Radoslav Brzobohatý and Slovakian actress Hana Gregorová.[citation needed]
Professional career[edit]
Brzobohatý learnt how to play the violin and the piano at the Elementary Art School on Biskupská and later graduated from the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory, where he studied composing, piano and conducting.[citation needed] He studied film scoring and orchestration privately with composer Milan Kymlička.[citation needed]
He played as a member of the band Bůhví (God Knows) and released four albums with them. He is credited as a performer and composer on albums for artists including Sámer Issa, Dara Rolins, Hana Zagorová, Helena Vondráčková, Karel Gott, and Helena Zeťová.[citation needed] His most significant collaboration is with Slovakian singer Richard Müller, for whom he wrote 15 songs together with lyricist Petr Uličný for Müller’s album 55.[citation needed]
He did the musical arrangements, instrumentation, and incidental music for Michal Horáček and Petr Hapka’s theatrical play in verse Kudykam, which is partly sung and partly spoken.
He also co-wrote the musical Já, Francois Villon (I, Francois Villon) with Jiří Hubač and Pavel Vrba. With the Slovakian poet and librettist Ľubomír Feldek he wrote the musical Cyrano, which ran at the Radek Brzobohatý Theatre in Prague. In 2018, he wrote his own musical Legenda jménem Holmes (Holmes, the Legend) for the Karlín Music Theatre in Prague with Vojtěch Dyk in the starring role. He has done the music for a number of feature-length films and is perhaps best-known for his work on Anděl Páně 2 (Angel of the Lord 2) directed by Jiří Strach. He also collaborated with Jiří Strach on three seasons of the Czech TV crime series Labyrint (Labyrinth) and on the films Osmy (Wisdom Teeth) starring Ivan Trojan and Klec (The Cage) starring Jiřina Bohdalová.
As an actor, he portrayed the roles of lawyer Marek Stránský on the TV series Ulice (The Street) and teacher Adam Kábrt on the TV series Gympl s (r)učením omezeným (High School Ltd.) for which he also composed the score. He hosted the first series of the televised singing competition Česko hledá SuperStar (Czech Idol) as well as three live broadcasts of the Český slavík (Czech Nightingale) Awards in 2005, 2009 and 2012. He has released two solo albums entitled Identity and Universum respectively. He has written the jingles for a number of television shows and TV commercials. He has enjoyed several successful tours back-to-back and likes to use a symphonic orchestral sound for his concerts, which he applied the most in his 2016 Symphonicum Tour. In 2019, he staged a large concert entitled Brzobohatý & Friends, where his original compositions from throughout his entire career were performed and sung by top singers from the Czech pop scene.
