OneTech is a British company that acts as a driving force for inclusion within the startup ecosystem. It equips underrepresented communities with the necessary networks, skills, and confidence to establish and sustain businesses.[1]

History

OneTech was started in 2018, aiming to double the number of women and entrepreneurs from minority backgrounds who secure funding for their ventures in London.[2]

OneTech soon grew beyond a project with a start and end date and grew into a movement of change that we see in the London ecosystem.

Since its inception in 2018, OneTech has offered an array of support programmes tailored for entrepreneurs from underrepresented groups, from the ideation phase to securing funding. The programmes encompass Bootstrap School, Founders Weekend, No-Code School, and Funding Readiness.[3]

This initiative has guided more than 3,000 entrepreneurs over a span of five years, accumulating over £20 million in funding and generating upwards of 210 jobs.[4]

Initially, OneTech operated as a project under Capital Enterprise, a startup network. It has since evolved into a fully independent entity, with Emma Obanye as the CEO.[5]

OneTech began with financial backing from JPMorgan and has since garnered support from Google, The Mayor of London, Leeds City Council, South Yorkshire Combined Authority, LIFT, among others. This support has allowed OneTech to extend its programmes to a diverse array of founders nationwide.[6]

As of 2023, Emma Obanye is the CEO of OneTech.[7]

Awards and honours

In 2023, OneTech won the Social Impact in Enterprise Award at the National Enterprise Awards.[8]
