One Eye Closed (band)[edit]

One Eye Closed is a Tokyo-based band comprised of 4 members REI (vocals), none (guitar), Yasu (bass), and Kay (drums). The band is known for writing and singing in the English language and for their blend of Rock music, Hip hop, and RnB, while incorporating other elements of various genres, which resulted in them being even labeled as a 'Mixture' or 'New Core' band, a sub-type of Post-hardcore music by Japanese critics for this genre blend; some critics also credit them as one of the bands starting this musical style movement in Japan. One Eye Closed officially started with 2 members vocalist REI and guitarist none writing demos together and releasing their first demo track "Make Sure" in 2018 via YouTube, but One Eye Closed became its complete roster in 2019 when bassist Yasu and drummer Kay, who were support live musicians for the band in it's beginning years, became official members. The band then came to write and record five tracks and released them as their first EP entitled "Cain". The main track of this EP entitled "Low" is currently the band's most popular track as it served as the Ending Theme Song for No Straight Roads, a video game produced by Malaysian company Metronomik. The band then continued to write, record, and release more music. In 2020, One Eye Closed then signed into London label JPU Records known for distributing music outside of Japan from acts such as SCANDAL, The Gazette, Band-Maid, and more.
