One Knoxville SC or One Knoxville Sporting Club is an American soccer organization based in Knoxville, Tennessee that competes in USL League Two, the fourth tier of American soccer. They currently play in the league's Deep South Division.[1][2]

History

Founding

The club was initially unveiled by Owner Drew McKenna to the public as Knox Pro Soccer, starting as a USL League Two club with plans to move to the next tier USL League One in the near future.

The official name for the team, One Knoxville Sporting Club, was announced on July 15, 2021.[3]

The official crest for the team, designed by artist Matthew Wolff, was unveiled on August 19, 2021.[4]

Mark McKeever was appointed as the club's first ever head coach on January 13, 2022.[5]

2022 - Inaugural Season

For their inaugural season, they decided to play at multiple venues for the team's home games. Their first game against Asheville City was played at Austin-East High School in Knoxville, TN on May 14, 2022. The next two games against the Tri-Cities Otters and the Dalton Red Wolves were played at Knoxville Catholic High School. Their final four home games of the season were played at Maryville College in Maryville, TN.[6]

One Knoxville was very successful during the regular season, finishing with an 11-2-1 record. The team became a #4 seed in the Southern Conference in the playoffs. Knoxville became one of the host cities of the playoffs. The first set of games were played at West High School. After the team beat Texas United and West Virginia United in the first two rounds of the playoffs, they got to host the next two rounds of the playoffs. These two games were hosted at Austin-East High School.[7]

Colors and Badge

Crest

The crest was unveiled on August 19, 2021.[4]

It is designed to be simple and colorful, with four distinct colors: yellow, orange, light blue, and dark blue. The yellow represents the Sunsphere, a major landmark in Downtown Knoxville from the 1982 World's Fair. The orange represents the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Tennessee Volunteers, which is the landmark university and athletics of Knoxville. The lighter blue adjacent to the yellow represents the First Horizon building in Downtown Knoxville. The darker blue represents the rivers and mountains in the area.[4]

Partnership with United Way

The team's home kit is directly sponsored/partnered with United Way of Greater Knoxville. With every kit purchase, $10 goes directly to United Way of Greater Knoxville.[8] One Knoxville has done other fundraising efforts with United Way, including $6,000 from donations during the team's logo reveal.[9]
