One Tree Planted is an American based 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization founded[1] in 2014, focusing on global reforestation projects, including wildfire reforestation, and urban reforestation projects to reduce the effects of urban heat islands and climate change.
Overview[edit]
Founder/CEO Matt Hill[2] started One Tree Planted in 2014 to promote global reforestation in an accessible way. Donors contribute one dollar to plant one tree. The organization is based in Shelburne, Vermont and has a platinum rating on GuideStar and a 4-star rating on Charity Navigator.
Mission[edit]
One Tree Planted is focused on creating simple ways for everyone to help the environment. Their slogan, One Dollar. One Tree. One Planet. supports reforestation programs contributing to cleaner air and water, benefitting animal habitats and communities on five continents.
Activities[edit]
Since 2014, One Tree Planted has planted over 40 million trees in 43 countries globally[3], partnering with like-minded collaborators and organizations in support of tree-planting initiatives, including Scarlett Johansson, Sophia Bush, Coldplay, Amazon,Anheuser-Busch, Sky (video game) and Oakstone International .
