Early life[edit]
Bey was born in Eschenbach, Germany. Her parents are Betty Heard (1968 Mississippi, USA) and Donald Heard (1965 Florida, USA), who both served in the United States Army. At the age of 2 years she relocated with her family to Fayetteville, NC. She is the eldest of 6 children, all daughters. As a youth she participated in a range of extracurricular activities such as Math and Science competitions, Fashion and Design shows, and community service all while earning an income by performing child care services.
She attended North Carolina Central University and graduated with a Bachelors in Art Studies. She continued education after college by becoming certified to teach ESL (English as a Second Language) and studying Fashion and Design in art district of Northern California.
Marriage and children[edit]
In 2015, she married artist Jhordan "Jaguar" Perry. They have two children

Artist Career[edit]
Bey has several years experience in creating upcycled costume jewelry and clothing. Costumes depict fashion of a post cataclysm time period. Her clothes and accessories represent sophisticated fashion with a counter-cultured twist. Because she mostly uses found objects or used materials her style is often depicted as eclectic and having a lot of texture. She used her knowledge and experience in Art and Fashion Design to build her self named company, Meek Makings, of custom costume clothing and jewelry. Today she continues her independent study, designing for theater productions and independent artists.

She see first hand the discouragement and obstacles it can cause in a young learner, while volunteering at Durham Public Schools. She fights the under-representation of children of color in the education system by providing parents and educators an online platform that promotes and sells relatable education materials. Since Nu School Supplies has started it has connected over 50 businesses with hundreds of customers.
