Onur Akay (born 28 April 1977) voice artist, poet, writer, composer and actor.

Onur Akay studied at Istanbul University State Conservatory Turkish Music Theory Department for six years and graduated from Haliç University Turkish Music Vocal Training Department. Prof. Dr. He took music lessons from the most prominent teachers of the period such as Alâeddin Yavaşca, Süheyla Altmışdört, İsmail Hakkı Özkan and Nevin İnam Karındaş. The great composer Prof. Dr. He worked with Selahattin İçli on composition for many years in his room at the Istanbul Technical University State Conservatory. He also worked on composition with Avni Anıl, Erol Sayan, Amir Ateş, Necdet Varol and Sadun Aksüt, the most important composers of the period. The artist, who also studied poetry with famous poets Halil Soyuer and Cemal Safi, took diction and fine Turkish speaking lessons from the famous actress Semih Sergen for three years.

Onur Akay, a member of MESAM, found three maqams in Turkish music that were accepted by many theoreticians, especially İsmail Hakkı Özkan and Necdet Varol. In addition, he introduced the maqams he found with sample works he composed. He wrote a textbook for conservatories in 2020. İsmail Hakkı Özkan, one of the most important theoreticians and composers of the period, wrote a presentation in 2003 for the textbook taught at universities. Özkan said, "This is a series of mesk that stretches from Hammâmîzâde İsmâil Dede Efendi to Zekâi Dede, from Rauf Yektâ Bey to my teacher Gavsi Baykara and from me to you through his channel." With these statements, İsmail Hakkı Özkan positioned Onur Akay in a very important position in Turkish music and showed him as the last representative of the series that contributed to Turkish music culture and developed musicology. Varol said for the makams that were the invention of Onur Akay, "When I analyzed the maqams you found and composed in the set and sample compositions, the first thing that came to my mind was the cheese pastry. There is cheese and pie, but no one has ever made a cheese pie before you. " used the expressions. The lyrics of his first composition, "Spring in My Heart", which he made in 1990 when he was 13 years old, belong to Zeki Müren. Akay, who started to appear on the stage in 1993, began to be known as the heir to Zeki Müren in the press after releasing his first album. Onur Akay's poems, which have many works in the TRT repertoire, are Semahat Özdenses, Erol Sayan, Suat Sayın, Necdet Tokatlıoğlu, Teoman Önaldı, Amir Ateş, Rüştü Eriç, Necdet Varol, Sadun Aksüt, Erdinç Çelikkol, Zeynettin Maraş, Gündoğdu Duran, Turhan Taşan was composed by unforgettable composers such as Osman Babuşçu, İlgün Soysev and Cengizhan Sönmez. His works were read by TRT artists and famous names in albums and live broadcasts. His three poems were composed by Erol Büyükburç, one of the pioneers of Turkish pop music. The Composer of the Century Award[edit]
Onur Akay, one of the rare composers who found a place in Turkish music, was awarded with the "Composer of the Century Award" in 2000 by the famous literary magazine named "ANA" for this special invention. The Award was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal of the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Distinguished Service Award, the Kale Group Founder and Honorary Chairman Dr. It was taken by Hacı İbrahim Bodur. Akay also received many awards such as Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year, and in 2020, he was awarded the 30th Art Year Award.[3]
