Op zoek naar Danny & Sandy (Looking for Danny & Sandy) is a Dutch television talent series broadcast on AVRO from late 2022 until early 2023. It documented the search for 2 new, undiscovered musical theatre performers to play the roles of Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski in the then-forthcoming stage production of Grease, which is produced by Eyeworks for the AVROTROS, the series was hosted by Frits Sissing and judged by Jim Bakkum, Marlijn Weerdenburg and Maurice Wijnen. In the final, on 3 February, Tristan van der Lingen and Danique Graanoogst were announced as the winners of the series.
The series follows previous collaborations of the AVROTROS to find new musical theatre performers: Op zoek naar Evita which was won by Brigitte Heitzer, Op zoek naar Joseph which was won by Freek Bartels and Op zoek naar Mary Poppins which was won by Noortje Herlaar, Op zoek naar Zorro which was won by Tommie Christian and Op zoek naar Maria which was won by Nandi Van Beurden.[1]
A similar format has been used as well in the United States of America in early 2007, with the show Grease: You're the One That I Want! taking 2 unknown singers and placing the winners in the lead roles for the 2007 performances in Broadway. On 25 March 2007, Max Crumm & Laura Osnes were announced the winners of this show.
Another similar format has been used as well in the United Kingdom in 2007, with the show Grease Is the Word taking 2 unknown singers and placing the winners in the lead roles for the 2007 performances in the West End. On 9 June 2007, Danny Bayne & Susan McFadden were announced the winners of this show.
Auditions[edit]
Applications for the series from those from 20 to 35 were solicited in September 2022 all over the Netherlands.
Expert panel[edit]
An expert panel provided advice to the contestants throughout the series, and provided comments during the live shows. The panel was made up of:

- Marlijn Weerdenburg (dutch actress, presenter and singer)
- Maurice Wijnen (dutch theatre and television producer, presenter and music producer)[2]

Live shows[edit]
The live shows saw the finalists eliminated one by one or two by two following both individual and group performances. Once eliminated, The eliminated Danny or/and Sandy has his or/and her jacket stripped off by the surviving Danny or/and Sandy whilst singing "Die zomernacht" (Summer Nights) from Grease with the remaining contestants, Unlike the British, American and Israel versions of Grease Is the Word and Grease: You're the One That I Want!, which the Danny's elimination song being "Sandy" and the Sandy's elimination song being "Goodbye to Sandra Dee" from Grease. [5] After being announced as the winners, Tristan and Danique concluded the show with a performance of "Want voor jou wil ik gaan" (You're The One That I Want).
