Open Ocean is a 2021 Spanish documentary film directed by Nathan Siegel that follows ocean sailor Didac Costa and his team of mostly volunteers during his 2016-2017 and 2020-2021 Vendée Globe campaigns. The film, produced by production company ONA, premiered at Phenomena (cine) in November 2021 in Barcelona, Spain.
Synopsis
The film follows the journey of Spanish ocean sailor Didac Costa and his team as they attempt to complete the 2016-2017 and 2020-2021 Vendée Globe, the solo, non-stop around-the-world sailing race. More people have gone to outer space than have completed the Vendée Globe. The film chronicles the challenges and unexpected setbacks that lead Didac to become the only Spanish sailor to finish the race twice.
