Operation True Promise III
Operation True Promise III was a future planned Islamic Republic of Iran military operation. Iran was planning to launch "Operation True Promise 3" in response to October 2024 Israeli strikes on Iran that killed 4 Iranian soldiers and damaged military sites. Commander of IRGC General Hossein Salami has warned that the attack will be harsh and "unimaginable".[1]
On 8 November 2024, IRGC test fired a long-range missile, possibly in preparation for the attack.[2] Hossein Taeb has said the operation will hurt Israel and Americans' image, in a way least expected.[3]
On January 10, 2025, General Salami stated that people have been persistently requesting a True Promise 3 invasion on Israel.[4]
Background
Operation True Promise II was launched by Iran on October 1, 2024, in response to Israeli aggression, with over 200 missiles targeting Israeli military and espionage bases. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander, Brigadier General Ali Fadavi, has confirmed that Operation True Promise III will indeed be carried out.[5] According to Iranian news, Arab diplomats have been briefed that the attack will not be limited to missile strikes unlike previous operations.[6][7] Khamenei has promised a crushing attack.[8][9] US military threatened Iranians not to use Iraqi soil to attack Israel.[10][11][12]
