Illegal structures controversy[edit]
On 2019[when?], Otto Poon admitted guilty to building an unauthorized pool in his garden, and as a result, was fined HK$20,000 (US$2,500). It is told in the case that he had built the pool without permission from the Hong Kong Building Authority.[1] There have been rumors that his wife, Teresa Cheng, was involved since she is the Secretary of Justice, however Otto denied these claims, and said in response "I do not know what my wife is doing, my wife doesn’t know what I am doing".[2] His wife has not been charged with involvement.
