Oui Capital is a private venture capital firm, founded in 2018 by Olu Oyinsan.[1] and Francesco Andreoli[2] with offices in Boston, MA and Lagos, Nigeria. Oui Capital invests in pre-seed and seed stage companies with investments spanning financial technology, education technology, innovative healthcare, mobility[3] and logistics in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The company also provides mentorship along with early financing under its Mentor’s Fund initiative. The Mentor’s Fund is a program for startups to gain access to a pool of specialists and domain experts who act as advisors on critical matters.

History

Oui Capital was formed in 2018[4][5], out of the imbalance that exists between high-growth technology startups in Sub-Saharan Africa, and the smart capital available to take advantage of these opportunities[6]

Managing Partner Olu Oyinsan, who was formerly VP of Investments at Ingressive Capital[7], partly credits the success of payments company Flutterwave[8][9] for encouraging his move to Nigeria to start the fund[10] with Swiss serial entrepreneur and Techstars mentor Francesco Andreoli.

The firm gets its name from the French word Oui (pronounced “we”), for yes and is on a mission to create more 'mature', 'de-risked' companies as it operates with the official slogan, “saying yes, one entrepreneur at a time”[11].

Key partners

As of 2020, Oui Capital’s key partners include:
