OurPath is a UK-based health technology company launched in January 2015 with headquarters in London, United Kingdom. OurPath provides a digital behavioural change service, helping its users to change their lifestyle habits.
History[edit]
OurPath was founded in January 2015 by Chris Edson and Mike Gibbs, former strategy consultants for Monitor Group. They initially raised $800,000 in seed funding from 500 Startups, Wayra, Bethnal Green Ventures, and Pioneers Ventures....[1]
In October 2017, OurPath published its first clinical trial in the Royal College of Physicians Future Healthcare Journal - A service evaluation of a digital behavioural change programme. [2]
In November 2017, the company was selected to deliver the NHS Healthier You National Diabetes Prevention Programme[3] and in January 2018, OurPath launched a commercial partnership with multinational healthcare company, Roche[4]
A further $3m was raised in a second funding round led by Connect Ventures in August 2018 with follow-on investment from SpeedInvest and angels including Taavet Hinrikus (co-founder of Transferwise), Michael Pennington (co-founder of Gumtree), and Ian Hogarth (co-founder of Songkick).[5]
Media attention[edit]
Wired magazine identified that if OurPath's approach was successful, it could "save the NHS" through the possible savings from reduction in type 2 diabetes and its complications.[6]
In January 2018, the founders Chris Edson and Mike Gibbs were selected as part of Forbes 30 under 30 2018[7]
The EU selected OurPath has one of the top 50 startups in Europe, where the founders presented to the Hemicycle in European parliament[8][9]. TechWorld listed OurPath among the top 20 health technology startups in the UK in 2018[10]. OurPath has also been featured by CNBC[11] and Engadget[12]
Online publisher TechCrunch identified OurPath as a startup 'leading the charge in digital therapeutics, tackling some of the biggest problems facing patients and our healthcare system today'[13]
