History
OutThink was founded in 2019 by Flavius Plesu, former chief information security officer at Bank of Ireland, along with four other CISOs as an alternative to conventional security awareness training and phishing simulations.[2] Angela Sasse, human-centered security professor at University College London and Ruhr University Bochum, serves as the company's Chief Scientific Advisor. In February 2020, the company raised £1.2 million in a seed funding round led by Forward Partners.[2]
In October 2022, OutThink announced $10 million in a round led by AlbionVC, with participation from Molten Ventures, GapMinder, UK Research and Innovation, the European Innovation Council and TriplePoint Capital.[3] Following the round, bringing total disclosed funding to $11.4 million.[4]
Platform
OutThink develops a human risk management platform that provides adaptive security awareness training, phishing simulation, and human risk analytics and intelligence. The software identifies behavioral risk patterns and recommends targeted training or automated improvement actions.[4][5]
