Paddy Hayes (director)

Paddy Hayes is a film producer and director and is principal of Magamedia and Tua Films. He has produced and directed feature films, TV dramas and documentaries for TG4, RTÉ, Screen Ireland and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.[1]

2021 saw the world premiere of his Irish language feature film Foscadh at the Galway Film Fleadh, which was directed by Seán Breathnach and starred Dónall Ó Héalai and Fionnuala Flaherty.[2] The film picked up the Best First Irish Film at the festival. In 2020 Hayes produced the feature documentary Cumar – a Galway Rhapsody for TG4 and Arts Council of Ireland.[3] [4] Hayes also produced 4 seasons of Finné for [TG4]; [5] [6] [7] Daniel O’Connell - Forgotten King of Ireland (2019) for RTÉ presented by Olivia O'Leary and directed by Alan Gilsenan; [8] and Noel Hill - Aisling Ghéar for TG4 and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, which he directed. Hayes was awarded the Law Society of Ireland Justice Media Award 2019 for Finné[11] which also won the Celtic Media Festival Documentary Series Award in 2020. [12] He executive produced the Irish Film & Television Academy winning Páidí Ó Sé - Rí an Pharóiste[13] and the short film Rúbaí which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival (2014), both directed by Louise Ní Fhiannachta. In 2015, Hayes produced the 6 part tv drama EIPIC for TG4 and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland,[15] written by Mike O'Leary and directed by Louise Ní Fhiannachta.[16] Hayes produced the two seasons of Irish Film & Television Academy winning Corp + Anam by Darach Mac Con Iomaire for TG4 which is now available on MHZ Networks in the USA and on the Sooner (Video-On-Demand-Dienst) platform in Europe. Hayes is the author of the non-fiction book Breakout, the story of Famous Irish Prison Escapes, published by the O'Brien Press,[19]
