The Pan American Society for Clinical Virology was founded in 1977, as the Pan American Group for Rapid Viral Diagnosis (PAGRVD), but the name was changed to the Pan American Society for Clinical Virology (PASCV) in 1995, to help in enhancing the standards of diagnostic virology in the United States as the European Group for Rapid Viral Diagnosis has done elsewhere. [1] As the name goes, so does the working objective of the society flows on, where in the expanding role of the society sets its footprints in all the areas of clinical virology: viral pathogenesis, manifestations of disease, laboratory diagnosis, prevention, and therapy, and the improved understanding of all these. [2][3]
