Festival) is a 1998 Telugu language drama film, produced under the Jayasri Art Pictures banner. It stars Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Srikanth, Raasi and music composed by M. M. Keeravani. The film was recorded as a super hit at the box office. It is a remake of the Malayalam film Katha Nayagan.
Plot
The film begins with Suryadevara Lakshmi Raghava Vara Prasad (Akkineni Nageswara Rao), a top-tier individual who holds high esteem in society. He is also the paterfamilias to a large extended joint family who is unmarried and shoulders the responsibilities of his five sisters and their respective families. However, they usurp his wealth under the guise of serving him. Once, Vara Prasad is rescued by a young man, Anand (Srikanth), from a few burglars. Just after, he is impressed by Anand's virtue and appoints him as the manager of his house. Time passes, and Anand wins Vara Prasad's credence and obtains household authority. Besides, Prameela (Raasi), one of Vara Prasad's nieces, quarrels with Anand. After some time, Vara Prasad realizes Anand is a fraud, one who trapped him with his excellence, so he dismisses him. Thereupon, he notices a photograph of his ex-lover, Vijayalakshmi (Jayasudha), with him.
Here, as a flabbergasted revelation, it is revealed that Anand is Vara Prasad's son who returned to pay back his father for deceiving his mother. Soon, Vara Prasad clarifies that it's an error of fortune. At present, Anand proclaims Vara Prasad to accept him as his son when he dichotomizes as his honor and family prestige obstruct him. But Anand challenges him to divulge the reality. At that moment, Prameela overhears the conversation, apologizes to Anand, and they fall in love. Thereafter, Anand raises chaos in the family and brings out the true faces of his sly relatives. Meanwhile, Vara Prasad decides to declare his heir on the occasion of his 60th birthday, and ultimately, he affirms the actuality. Learning this, Vara Prasad's sisters accuse him and their riffraff husbands poison him, but Anand saves his father in time. At last, Vara Prasad hands over his property to them and is ready to leave when they all plead for pardon and change his intention. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Anand and Prameela.
