Early life
Pt. Vishwanath was born in a family of musicians of Meerut, he is the fourth-generation musician in his family. Pt. Vishwanath has devoted his life to achieving great heights in the field of Hindustani classical vocal music, representing the well-known Kirana Gharana.
Pt. Vishwanath's forte is not only khayal but also Thumri, Dadra and Bhajan. He started his sangeet sadhana at a very young age under the tutelage of his father, the Late Shri. Om Prakash Ji, and elder brother, the Late Pt. Jagannath Ji, the shehnai vadak. He also learned from the Late Sarangi Nawaz, Ustaad Banne Khan's son, and Ustad Altaf Hussein Khan sahib. Later, he had the fortune of learning from Pt. Mani Prasad Ji, under the Guru Shishya Parampra. He has performed at many conferences in India and abroad and received positive reviews.
Kirana Gharana
Kirana Gharana is one of the most prolific Indian classical khayal gharanas and is concerned with perfect intonation of notes. Ustad Abdul Karim Khan was a pioneer and founder of Kirana gharana. Kirana gharana boasts many luminaries in the field of music like Sawai Gandharva, Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi Ji, Smt. Gangubai Hangal, Hirabai Barodekar, Roshanara Beghum.
