Paolo Zanotti (author)
Paolo Zanotti (born in Novara , January 18, 1971 - died in Novara , December 5, 2012) was an Italian author and writer.
Biography[edit]
Born in Novara in 1971, studied at the University of Pisa (while attending the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa), in which he was taught a thesis on Italo Calvino and English literature. He taught contemporary Italian Literature and Comparative Literature at various universities in Italy and abroad, having been Professor of Contemporary Italian Literature at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (2001 - 2002), a research fellow of Comparative Literature At the Department of Italian Studies of the University of Bologna (2002 - 2005), post-doctoral fellow at the Center de Recherches sur les Modernes et Littératures Contemporaines of' Blaise Pascal University (2006 - 2007).
He worked as a collector of manuscripts for literary agency Studio Nabu(1997 - 2001) and the publishing house Mondadori( 1997 - 2000). In the mid-1990s he made the translation of Robert Louis Stevenson's Fleeming Jenkin Memorial (Seller 1996). Among his scientific publications, an essay on the novel of adventure (The Romanesque Way, Laterza 1998), one on childhood literature (The Secret Garden and Mysterious Island , Le Monnier 2001), one on the cultural history of homosexual identity (Il gay, Fazi Editore 2005). He was the editor of Volume Contaminations (Le Monnier 2005) and the Classic Classics of Homosexuality (Rizzoli 2006).
Also important is the production of narrative: his tales have appeared in the magazines Il Caffè illustrato, New Prose and in the Best off anthology (minimum fax 2005) that led him to debut with the novel Bonsai Children (Ponte alle Grazie , 2010).
He died of pancreatic cancer on December 5, 2012 at the age of 41, leaving his novel on Kaspar Hauser, KH , incomplete.
