Papa
Papa is the eighth episode of season four. In 1979, Martin Brenner walks towards Eleven as she lunges the knife into Henry Creel, he sees Eleven holding a bloody knife and Henry on the ground, he asks her what she has done and takes her away. Back in 1986, Nancy Wheeler is told about Brenner touching Henry/Vecna. Vecna tells her about the massacre at Hawkins lab, and how he didn’t kill enough people, so he was punished by the Mind Flayer and forced to suffer until he could kill one more person, so he tried to take Will Byers. Suddenly, Nancy runs away from Vecna as Steve Harrington tries to find Nancy. The Demogorgon in Russia starts freaking out, and Murray Bauman, still pretending to be Yuri Ismaylov, tells the guards that everything is under control and that they don’t have to worry about anything. Joyce Byers is having forced fun with Jim Hopper, and she tells him that Eleven misses him while having fun at the same time. Murray interrupts them to say that he let out the Demogorgon to attack the guards, but that because of this, many Demodogs are coming their way. Along with Dmitri Antonov, they run past many fighting people until they end up at a zoo-like room with many Demodogs and also a piece of the Mind Flayer. Then eventually find a vent that leaves them to the exit of the prison. Eleven is shocked at what she realized happened during the Hawkins Lab Massacre, and she is so angry that she smashes Nina’s tank, causing Brenner to be happy because he could have fun with Eleven. Argyle, Mike Wheeler, Will Byers, and Jonathan Byers start heading towards the coordinates that Suzie Bingham gave them. Mike tells Will that he is afraid that since Eleven has probably ended, she might not ever see him again, but Will tells Mike that Eleven is still alive. This leaves Mike happy, but makes Will upset because he dislikes Eleven. Brenner tells Eleven that the reason she was always given a pickaxe and forced to mine was because Brenner believed that One could have only escaped to the mines, so that was where he probably was. Brenner tells Eleven that One’s greatest weapon was a D20. Eleven is bored and leaves. Nancy tells the rest of the group about what she saw, and Dustin Henderson talks about how Vecna probably will snap others until he is defeated. Max Mayfield says that she could roll a D20 to lure Vecna out, and they would be able to attack Vecna while he was getting ready to snap. After crawling out of a hole, they find a Humvee and drive away. Antonov tells them they need a plane to escape, and Joyce knows one. Eddie Munson realizes that he can fight against the group, who is holding him at gunpoint, by going to a weapons store. So, he hijacks an RV. Eleven tells Brenner that she is worried that her friends are in trouble, and then a random doctor hires Eleven as a bodyguard, allowing her to go find her friends. Joyce, Murray, and Jim talk about how they can escape using Yuri’s broken helicopter. When the group chases Eddie to the weapons store, they run into Jason Carver, who is shopping there as well. Jason realizes that Nancy is probably with the rest of the Hellfire Club, and shoots Dustin with a revolver. The rest of the group escapes as Jason watches them driving away. Brenner shoots the lab person who allowed Eleven to work as a bodyguard, stating that Eleven is his last hope at having fun. He then goes to Eleven, touches her, and drugs her, knocking her out and causing her to be unconscious. Nancy proposes a toast in readiness to attack Vecna, and they chatter while Eddie is stuck inside of a trash can. Eleven wakes up as Hawkins Lab is starting to blow up. It is revealed that Jack Sullivan flew a plane into the building. Brenner and Eleven run, and while Eleven makes it safely to the bottom, Brenner gets injured, just as the second plane crashes into the tower. As Brenner is weakened, Brenner tells Eleven the truth about his identity, and that his real name was Jeffrey, Jeffrey E... However, Mike takes Eleven away before she hears more. Max and Erica are dropped off at Max’s house.
