Papaye, which means 'good is good' is a fast food restaurant chain in Ghana, West Africa headquartered in Spintex.
History[edit]
The restaurant Papaye first started operations in Ghana in 1991 by Samir Kalmoni at Osu Oxford Street.[1] It has six branches -- Osu, Abeka Lapaz[2], Awudome[3], Tema[4], Spintex[5], and Tesano -- all in Greater Accra Region.[6] They were one of the first chains to introduce fast food culture to the area, serving hamburgers, fried rice, chicken and many other international and Ghana specific meals.[7]
Charity Work[edit]
Papaye has established its own charitable program such as The Papaye Our Day Excellence Awards. The awards is an initiative by Papaye to reward brilliant and disciplined students and encourage the pursuit of academic excellence in young people.[8][1][9]
Awards[edit]
Papaye Fast Food Limited won The Restaurant of the Year 2018[10] at the Ghana Business Awards. They have also won the 'Best Fast Foods Restaurant in Ghana' award from the National Tourism Industry.[4]
