Parallel cocks
Parallel cocks is a motif which is often found on old Russian traditional craftsmanship, like on the textile art Russkaja vyshivka (Russian: Русская вышивка) or, for example, also on Gorodetskaya Rospis (Russian: Городецкая Роспись). The motif has its origins in the areas of old Moscovia and Povolzhye. It developed from the arts of the Russian peasants who lived in the Russian forests. Parallel birds also have a long history in Russian craftsmanship in Novgorod lands. In Russian textile handicrafts, for example, the mythical bird Sirin and the Firebird are often motifs which face each other.[1][2][3]
