Paras Kalnawat (born 9 November 1996)[1][2]is an Indian television actor best known for portraying Samar Shah in Anupamaa.

Early life[edit]

Kalnawat was born to Nagpur based businessman Bhushan Kalnawat and Anita Kalnawat on 9 November 1996 at Bhandara, a district near Nagpur and has an elder sister named Pragati Kalnawat Sharma also.[3] He completed his schooling from a local school in Nagpur and later joined S.K. Somaiya College of Arts, Science and Commerce to earn his Bachelor of Commerce degree. Later he moved to Mumbai to become an actor. He completed his dance diploma from Terence Lewis Dance Academy.[4]

Personal life[edit]

Kalnawat was dating his Meri Durga co-actor Urfi Javed but the duo broke up in 2018.[5]

On 27 March 2021, while shooting for Anupamaa, he got the news of his father's sudden demise due to heart attack.[6]

Career[edit]

Kalnawat begun his television career in 2017 by appearing as Dhruv in Aye Zindagi. From July 2017 to March 2018 he played Sanjay Singh Ahlawat, the protagonist's husband in StarPlus's Meri Durga opposite Srishti Jain.[7] In May 2018, he was cast to play Rehaan Thakur opposite Priyanka Kandwal in Mariam Khan - Reporting Live by the same channel Star Plus. However the duo quit the show in September 2018 due to some personal reasons.[8]

Later in the same year he portrayed episodic roles in Kaun Hai? and Laal Ishq. In 2019, he played Shivam Noon in ALT Balaji's Dil Hi Toh Hai 2. He went on to play main antagonist Faraz Sheikh in all four seasons of the web series Ishq Aaj Kal[9] in the same year and reprised his role as Shivam in Dil Hi Toh Hai 3 in early 2020.

Since March 2020, Kalnawat has been playing Samar Shah in Anupamaa opposite Anagha Bhosale. Due to show's immediate hit he became a household name as Samar. Next, he paired up with Ashi Singh in June 2020 for a music video, Tere Naal Rehna sung by Jyotica Tangri and Jeet Ganguly. In January 2021, he paired with his Anupamaa co-actor Anagha Bhosale for the music video Akhaa Vich sung by Sonu Kakkar days before testing positive for COVID-19 virus,[10] and the song got released in early March 2021. Post that, he paired with Himani Bairwa for the music video Ladki Star Hai(sung by Bairwa herself) which got released in early June 2021. He followed it up by pairing again with his Anupamaa co-actor Anagha Bhosale in early August 2021 for the music video Dil Nu Dildaar sung by Yasser Desai which released in late October 2021. In the same month, he paired up with actress Onima Kashyap for music video Khumariyaan sung by Raj Barman and Samira Koppikar which released in November 2021. In early October 2021, he paired up opposite actress Neha Malik for music video Sun Yaara sung by singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and the song was released in December 2021.

In August 2021, he paired up with actress Manpreet Kaur for music video Tum Subah Tum Shab sung by Mohammad Danish and Sarodee Bora. The song got released in late January 2022. He paired up with actors Ashnoor Kaur and Anuj Saini for music video Yaar Ki Mehfil sung by Stebin Ben in December 2021. The song was released in February 2022 and became an immediate hit..[11] In December 2021, he paired up with actress Swati Kapoor for music video Humnashi sung by Palak Muchhal and Ashok Ojha. The song was released in March 2022.
