Parque Melilla Shopping Center is the only shopping centre in the Spanish city of Melilla. It is located in the south-east of the city, on the site of the former Valenzuela Barracks, close to the Beni Enzar border.[1]

History

Although the project to locate a shopping centre on the site of the former Valenzuela Barracks was quite old, it was not until 7 September 2016 when the Autonomous City of Melilla granted permission for its construction, with the urbanisation of the site when it was possible, with the works beginning shortly after.[2]

It was inaugurated on 29 November 2017 and opened its doors the following day.[3]

Description

The centre has an open design, with a car park with a capacity for 1,350 vehicles in the basement, as well as on the ground floor, where there are spaces which organise the accesses to the two-storey commercial modules, with more than 40,000 m2.[4]

It has large areas such as Eroski, 2,000 m2, Leroy Merlin, Decathlon and Worten, 2,000 m2, fashion stores; Cortefiel or Zara and a restaurant area, Burger King.[5]
