Parviz Maghsadi band was an Iranian rock band. The group was formed by renowned Iranian composer Parviz Maghsadi to discover new talents.[1] He was able to introduce talents like Dariush Eghbali and Afshin Moghaddam into the music world.[2] Parviz Maghsadi band was the first band to introduce Mandolin to Iranian music.[3] Quiet rhythms, mandolin solos, symphonies and love poems were instrumental in determining the band's music. The band's activities lasted only three years. The band performed new rhythms in Iranian music that later became very influential.[4] Although they never achieved much success, famous and important Iranian pop singers such as Afshin Moghaddam and Dariush Eghbali started With this group.[5][6][7]
The song "Who Can Tell Sadness" reached number 66 on Manoto's "100 Greatest Iranian Songs of All-Time" list.[8][9][10]
History[edit]
Creation[edit]
Parviz Maghsadi was a first generation of Iranian composers.[11] He was looking for young singers in 1969. He saw the performance of Dariush, Keyvan and Afshin Moghaddam in a cafe and decided to get them into the band.[12] Onik and Masis were members of the Baby Boomers group before joining the group.[13] Other members also gradually joined the group. Maghsadi called this group "Six and eight". The band initially read foreign works like many other Iranian rock bands at the time.[14] But over time, the group made their own works, such as "Who Can Tell Sadness", which was later re-read by Onik and Zia.[15]
The bells and release of the first album (1970)[edit]
By 1970, the band Six and Eight, had prepared several songs for their first album.[16] But Afshin Moghaddam[17] was dissatisfied with the group's name and thought it might mislead people. Afshin Moghadam proposed the name "The Bells" which all members accepted and changed the group's name to the bells.[18] The band's first album was released in the same year, "The Bells".[19] This album was relatively successful.[20] All of this album was composed by the jazz band the Super Five.[21]
Parviz Maghsadi band and Dissolution (1970-1971)[edit]
Afshin Moghadam left the group in 1970 to begin his solo career. The band then changed its name to Parviz Maghsadi band. The band continued its work without Afshin Moghaddam and performed in the "Twinkle" television show several times.[22] After some time, all the members left and the group was dissolved.[23] After the original band members split, Parviz Maghsadi tried to rebuild his band with new members such as Dynamic and Nasser Sabouri, but was soon disbanded.[24]

Dariush, Keyvan and Afshin were a group formed after the dissolution of Parviz Maghsadi band by three old friends, Dariush, Keyvan and Afshin Moghaddam.[25] All three members of the band previously belonged to the Parviz Maghsadi band. The group has been operating sporadically for three years. During this time, they recorded several songs, including "Love", "Sharp Eagle" and "Who Can Tell Sadness", all of which did not achieve such success.[26] The group eventually disbanded and its members began their solitary activities.[27] Long after the band's dissolution, members of the band occasionally recorded some songs, including the last two tracks of the Zemestoon's album by Keyvan.[28][29]
Heritage[edit]
Parviz Maghsadi founded the band and introduced many young talents to the music world.[30] With the establishment of the band, he pursued the goal of nurturing and introducing young Iranian pop music talents.[31] Most of the members of the band were not active in music and were unsuccessful.[32] Nelly and Dariush were the only members who achieved significant success.[33] Dariush Eghbali became one of the most important pop singers in Iran.[34] Afshin Moghaddam left behind lasting works, such as "The Traveler" and "Zemestoon," which are still regarded as defining Iranian pop rhythms.[35] Afshin Moghaddam died in 1976.[36] Many of Afshin Moghaddam's famous works such as "The Past" and "The Traveler" and many of Dariush's early works were initially read by the band.[37][38]
