Patricia O'Neal (born Patricia O'Callaghan, September 5, 1907 – October 27, 2003) was an American film actress, who appeared in Straightaway (1961), What's Up, Doc? (1972), and At Long Last Love (1975).

She was born in Alameda, California to Mathilde (née Pius) and Richard Edward O'Callaghan. Her father was an Irish immigrant. Her mother was born in New York, the child of Jewish immigrants.[1] While in San Diego, she joined an acting troupe where she met her husband, actor and screenwriter Charles O'Neal.

She had two children with O'Neal, actor Ryan O'Neal, and actor/screenwriter Kevin O'Neal. She is grandmother to Tatum O'Neal, Griffin O'Neal, Patrick O'Neal (sportscaster), and Redmond O'Neal

In 1972 she appeared with her sons Ryan and Kevin in Peter Bogdanovich's comedy What's Up, Doc?. In 1976 she again appeared with her son Ryan and also with granddaughter Tatum O'Neal in another Peter Bogdanovich comedy, Nickelodeon.

Given how close the names are, she is often confused with actress Patricia Neal who was born in 1926 and died in 2010.
