Patrick Jordan Harrington (born June 1, 1989) is an attorney from Benton, Louisiana, who served as the Student Member of the Louisiana Board of Regents from June 2015 to May 2016 and as the Student Bar Association President at Southern University Law Center from April 2015 to April 2016.[1] [2] He was also a mayoral candidate for the town of Benton, Louisiana, in a special election held on March 23, 2012.[3][4]

Personal life[edit]

Harrington was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Cori and Patrick H. (1951-2011) Harrington, who is interred at the Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana.[5] He currently resides in Benton, Louisiana.

Harrington graduated as valedictorian from Benton High School in Benton, Louisiana, where he was elected Student Body President.[1] He then attended Louisiana State University in Shreveport and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of General Studies degree.[6] He was elected President of the Student Government Association, served as a Freshman Orientation Leader for four consecutive years, selected as Mr. LSUS 2011 (Student Ambassador of Academic Leadership), and affiliated with Kappa Sigma fraternity.[1] Thereafter, Harrington attended law school and graduated with honors (cum laude) from Southern University Law Center, a historically black college, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he was elected as the first white President of the Student Bar Association and was a Senior Editor for the law school journal.[1] He also was subsequently elected by the Louisiana Council of Student Body Presidents as the Student Member of the Louisiana Board of Regents, where he represented over 220,000 college students state-wide.[1] He is Southern Baptist.

Political career[edit]

At the age of 22, Harrington unsuccessfully ran in a special election for mayor of Benton, Louisiana, held on March 23, 2012.[3] Thereafter, he was appointed and served as the youngest board member of the Benton-Parish Metropolitan Planning Commission, where he served before attending law school.[1]

Harrington, a registered Republican, is currently considering a run for the office of Louisiana State Representative of the 8th District, which was vacated by Mike Johnson, who was elected as the U.S. Representative for Louisiana's 4th congressional district in December 2016.[7]
