Patrick Netherton (born January 19, 1977) is an American sportscaster working for ESPN+, Northwestern State University, and KWKH 1130 AM The Tiger in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he is based.

On ESPN+, he is the play-by-play broadcaster for multiple Northwestern State University Demons and Lady Demons sports. On 1130 AM The Tiger, he currently hosts a daily sports talk radio show[1] on weekdays from 1–3 p.m. with his producer and de-facto co-host Rogers Hampton.

Career

He previously worked as the Sports Information Director for Centenary College in Shreveport.[2][3]

He also worked for The Tim Brando Show, where he provided regular sports news updates during breaks and was known as "Mr. Know It All." The show was carried nationally on Sirius XM satellite radio until it ended in 2015. Netherton would occasionally guest host the show when Brando was unavailable.[4]

Netherton began working for the Northwestern State Demons and Lady Demons in 2003, when he became the play-by-play voice for the Demons Sports Network. In his 20th year with the athletic department, he began their ESPN+ television streaming broadcasts.[5] The Northwestern State Demons football broadcasts include Netherton on play-by-play, Gary Reasons as color commentary analyst, and Tyler Moody as the sideline reporter.[6]

In 2022, Netherton won third place in the Best Radio Interview category and honorable mention in the Best Radio Show (Solo) category for "The Patrick Netherton Show" in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association's annual sports information / communications contest.[7]

Personal life

Netherton is the son of Grover "Buster" Netherton and Judy Gallagher Durham of Shreveport, Louisiana. He is a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and Caddo Magnet High School in Shreveport, Louisiana. Netherton currently resides in Shreveport.

Netherton is a Kansas City Barbeque Society Certified Judge and Table Captain[8] and often references barbeque on his radio show and sports broadcasts.
