Patrik Olof Backman, born 1975, is a Finland Swedish businessman within software technology and venture capital. Backman is CEO and co-founder of the venture capital company Open Ocean since 2009. Backman has a background at MySQL AB and as a co-founder of MariaDB Corporation Ab.[1][2][3][4][5]
Career
Backman has a background at the database company MySQL AB before it was sold to Sun Microsystems in 2008. He was a co-founder of MariaDB Corporation Ab in 2010 together with, among others, Michael "Monty" Widenius, Ralf Wahlsten and Kaj Arnö. Backman is currently a board member at MariaDB Corporation Ab as the company aims to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2022.[1][2][6][7]
Backman founded the venture capital company Open Ocean in 2009 together with Michael "Monty" Widenius, Ralf Wahlsten and Tom Henriksson.[3][8]
