Patxi Saez Beloki (Beasain, Guipúzcoa, Basque Country, March 8 of 1964) is a Basque sociolinguist member of the Royal Academy of the Basque Language —Euskaltzaindia—.[1] He holds a degree in Social and Information Sciences and is a specialist in Language Planning from the University of the Basque Country.

The Cart Paradigm[edit]

On February 12, 2016, in Bilbao, at the official headquarters of the Royal Academy of the Basque Language, before more than a hundred academics, researchers and experts in basque language, he presented for the first time the Paradigm of the Cart, also called the Paradigm of Natural Need.[2] The Paradigm of the Cart proposes a new sociolinguistic paradigm for the revitalization of the minority languages that is interconnected with Maslow's Pyramid or hierarchy of human needs.
