Paul Pedana (born March 25, 1987) is an Italian musician, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer born in Umbertide, in the vicinities of Perugia, Italy.[1][2]

Early life[edit]

Paul Pedana was born on March 25, 1987, in Umbertide, Italy. His journey into the world of music began at a tender age, fueled by an innate curiosity and talent. At the age of six, young Paul discovered his love for music when he first sat down at a piano. His father, a Radio Speaker, provided an environment brimming with a rich tapestry of musical genres spanning from the 1940s to the 1990s. This exposure laid the foundation for his future exploration of sound and melody. By the time he reached the age of 12, he had begun playing the drums and guitar, forming his first band and setting the stage for his remarkable journey.

At 14, Pedana showcased his prodigious talents by composing an impressive 11-track symphonic music album, a remarkable feat accomplished using various synthesizers and virtual instruments. His prowess didn't go unnoticed, as it caught the attention of Giampiero Reverberi, an esteemed composer, after an enthralling live performance.

However, Pedana's life took a dramatic turn when tragedy struck at the age of 16. On June 4, 2003, he was involved in a devastating accident in front of his high school. Struck by a bus, Pedana's life hung in the balance as the vehicle threw him forward, passing over his body with both front and rear wheels. This horrifying incident left him with shattered organs, internal bleeding, pleural traumas, and other severe injuries, pushing him to the brink of medical hopelessness. Nevertheless, Pedana defied all odds, embarking on a long and painful path to recovery, undergoing numerous surgeries and medical treatments. This experience left not only physical but also profound emotional scars. It was during this challenging time that Pedana's unwavering spirit and dedication led him to order his first electronic drum set, practicing relentlessly from his hospital bed.

This near-death encounter sparked a profound spiritual awakening, motivating him to journey to the United States to live with the Native American tribe of the "Lakota." This cultural immersion offered him a previously unexplored dimension of spirituality, which would resonate through his music and artistry for years to come.

Career[edit]

Anthropos

During his high school years, Pedana formed the band "Anthropos" with a group of like-minded friends. Serving as the band's drummer and primary songwriter, his exceptional skills contributed significantly to their success. The group recorded their first album, "Live In Ossuary," and gained acclaim for their single "Strangers of The Nowhere." The name of this single was inspired by a chance encounter between Pedana and acclaimed director Terry Gilliam.
