Self identified as a g(URL), Nacif uses her art as commentary on topics that range from the maintenance of the body, the complexity of human experiences, to the societal structures of power and influence. These themes are most commonly elaborated upon through physical art installations, audio recordings, or video media representations incorporated with GIFs and other graphic art designs.

Paula Pinho Martins Nacif is Brazilian and Portuguese and is currently residing in the United Kingdom. She graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago in 2016 with a BFA, and is currently pursuing an MFA at Goldsmiths University in London. Her work as a new media artist is up and coming internationally, and although most of her art is viewed on vimeo, her art has also recently been showcased in a couple physical locations. Among these are SPAMM (Super Art Modern Museum) as well as a representation in Paper Magazine.

TFWY (The Feeling When You), 2016

TFWY is a live webcam,monitor, and keyboard installation that allows for the audience to view themselves in a selfie-esque environment. This version of TFWY includes preset video features to be incorporated in the interaction. It is described as being “a photo booth, teletransportation device, or a selfie-container-environment maker.” [1]

<3 take care of you <3 is a video composed of layered animated graphics including butterflies and clouds. As the focal point of the video changes between diagrams, there is a calm and high pitched voice speaking about self care. The voice reminds the viewer to hold a proper posture and guides them through breathing exercises. The video ends with a reminder for the viewer to take care of themselves.
