Elizabeth Amini Hart (born 20th December), popularly known as PearlCardy, is a Nigerian video jockey, Television Presenter/ Producer, On-Air Radio Personality, Event host, Model, and Actress.[1]

Her journey into entertainment started very early in her teenage years when she featured in blockbuster Nigerian home-videos. She later went into Modeling in 2001 and in 2008 while in University, PearlCardy went for the Nigerian video jockey search, where she emerged amongst the top eight finalists of eight thousand contestants. Her passion for media and entertainment has kept her in front of the camera to date.

With over 10 years screen time on arguably Africa’s Biggest Entertainment Network, she can pride herself as one of Nigeria’s Top Media Personalities, hosting the Talk Show City Divas, Top10 USA, Top10 South Africa, as well as one of Africa’s biggest Music Countdown shows Top10 Nigeria on Soundcity TV.

This University of Lagos Graduate of Geography and Planning was a nominee for Best TV Presenter in 2012 and the host of some of Nigeria’s biggest concerts in 2013 and 2018. PearlCardy also served as Youth Ambassador in 2016 for one of Nigeria’s leading telecommunications company.

In 2016, PearlCardy began radio presenting on Soundcity Radio 98.5fm hosting the weekend primetime show- The Weekend Central; till date.[2]

With Ten years experience on media television as a TV Presenter/ Producer and On-Air Radio Personality, for her love for the music and to show her versatility, she is currently exploring the world of Disc Jockeying.

Early Life

Pearl Elizabeth Amini Hart was born on 20 December in Lagos, Nigeria. Her mother Tessy Abimbola Hart is a caterer and her father Sir Malachi Hart is a UAC retiree and a Nollywood actor. She has four siblings – two sisters and two brothers.

PearlCardy had her Primary Education at Saint Catherine’s Model School where she was a member of the school’s band; she learned to play the recorder, flute, violin, and the keyboard. PearlCardy won school prizes for Best in Fine Arts. She was also a member of the Girls Guide and she represented her primary school in the Great Brains competition and School Debates.

In 1996, she attended her Secondary Education at Our Lady of Apostles Yaba, Lagos.[3] She joined the school choir where she sang soprano and mezzo-soprano. This heightened her interest and love for music. In 1998, while in school, she was featured in a couple of movies. She was also a member of the school's volleyball team. She graduated from Secondary School in 2001, after which she ventured into modeling until she got into the university.

In 2005, she gained admission into the University of Lagos, Akoka[4]. There she studied Geography and Planning and graduated with Distinction.

Having engaged in various school activities at a tender age, PearlCardy is no stranger to Music, Arts, and Public Speaking.

Career

Actress

Her journey into the entertainment industry started very early in her teenage years in the nineties, while she was still in Secondary School where she featured in some blockbuster Nigerian home-videos like Kids At War, Big Time Chicks and Silver Spoon[5].

Modeling

In 2001, after her secondary school education, before she gained admission into the University, PearlCardy went into Modeling and was featured in the Juice Magazine as a Fashion Model.

TV Presenter/ Producer

After a series of auditions at the Soundcity VJ Search, she emerged as Presenter on Soundcity TV alongside Denrele Edun in 2008. She produced and presented on the shows – Rap Attack, Owambe, and City Divas. She was later awarded the channel’s Flagship show Top10 Nigeria alongside other countdown shows, Top10 SA and Top10 USA.

This University of Lagos Graduate of Geography and Planning was a 2012 nominee for Best TV Presenter at the Eloy Awards.

PearlCardy hosts Nigeria’s favorite weekend radio show, The Weekend Central on Nigeria’s biggest radio station Soundcity98.5fm. The show runs primetime from 2 pm–6 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. She is known for the best weekend recommendations – Travels, Resorts, Events, Restaurants, and Hangouts. Starting out in 2016 till date, PearlCardy has carved a niche for herself on National Radio.
