"Pentax 67" is the trade mark and brand owned by Photo-Image Ltd,[1], a company in the UK (see below) responsible for reviving the "Asahi Pentax" brand (along with "Asahi Pentax 6x7" and "Pentax 67") since 2 March 2020 (see below).


"Pentax 67" is also the name of the medium format SLR camera made by the Pentax Corporation (previously Asahi Optical Co. Ltd. The Pentax 67 is the 3rd generation in the series of Asahi Pentax 6x7 cameras. It was succeed by the Pentax 67 Mkii in 1995 and hence the Pentax 67 is often known as the Mki, differentiating it from the Asahi Pentax 6x7 which is not the Mki version.


Pentax 67 and Asahi Pentax 6x7 Trade Mark and Domain Name History[edit]

The original brand "Asahi Pentax", the brand "Asahi Pentax 6x7" and the brand "Pentax 67" were revived in the UK in 2020. and In the period 4 Aug 2020 and 9 January 2023, the trade mark "Asahi Pentax" was taken over by Photo-Image Ltd in the UK, spearheaded by Mr S Santini, an ex employee of Asahi Optical Co. [2]. This was followed by acquisition of the domain asahipentax.com,[3], completing the takeover of the brand. Additionally in the same period, the trade marks "Asahi Pentax 6x7"[4] and "Pentax 67"[5] were similarly acquired by Photo-Image Ltd. Mr Santini is widely regarded as the authority on Asahi Pentax 6x7 and Pentax 67 cameras.
