Peropesis is a small-scale, minimalist, command-line-based Linux operating system, created from free and open-source software, mostly distributed under the GNU GPL or BSD licenses. The Peropesis Linux project offers one Live edition, which is intended to be run from a CD, DVD, or USB thumb drive. The first beta version of Peropesis (1.0) was released on February 17, 2021. The term Peropesis is a shortened version of "personal operating system".[2]
Features
- Peropesis is compatible with 64-bit architecture processors and with both BIOS and UEFI motherboards.
- Peropesis is not intended to be written to the hard drive, but is intended to be run entirely from a computer's RAM.
- The main software packages of the Peropesis distribution are: Linux kernel, GNU C Library, GCC, Bash, GNU Binutils, GNU Core Utilities and util-linux.
- Many software packages included in Peropesis are licensed under the GNU General Public License.
- It is a minimalist operating system; its ISO image size is around 150 MB.
Usefulness
The Peropesis distribution is designed to be small and command line focused. It includes some console tools for network connectivity, e-mail,[3] web browsing, programs written in C and C++ programming languages compiling, and data recovery of faulty operating system installed on the same computer.[4][5]
Releases
The Peropesis Linux distribution is in the second stage of development; it does not have a stable release. Each release is dedicated to fixing bugs, installing new software, and testing.
